Reduce Greenhouse Gas Effect

Exhaust gas emissions is one of the largest contributors of greenhouse gases. And the greenhouse effect is the cause of global warming phenomenon that is currently sweeping many parts of the world.
Sources of waste gas emissions from activities such as production in industry and motor vehicle fumes. If these emissions could be reduced or minimized, will greatly affect the environment because it can reduce the greenhouse effect. In this context, industry plays a very important

Efforts to reduce carbon emissions from production activities have been implemented at the Ajinomoto plant in Mojokerto. This factory has installed the system steam gas power plants (Combined Cycle Power Plant) which aim to improve energy efficiency. This system is called cogeneration system (cogen system) and has been operated since September 2006.

This system is a combination of two power plants, namely gas power (PLTG) and thermal power (power plant) that uses natural gas as fuel. Gas was chosen because it proved to be more clean and environmentally friendly than using coal that has a heavy emissions.
"The level of fuel efficiency of this system in total reached 92 percent and can reduce carbon emissions by 20 percent," said Wahyu. In addition, he said, Ajinomoto also seeks to reduce the impact of wastewater disposal. Wastewater effluent that dihasilkanuntuk amino acid production through fermentation processes have characteristics of high nitrogen content.

To overcome this, manufacturers use {BDN system or biological denitrification biological nitrogen reduction). Namely, a method of wastewater treatment that can reduce pollution levels of chemical oxygen demand {COD), biological oxygen demand {BOD), and TN (total nitrogen).
"Ajinomoto also seeks to utilize and recycle the waste up to 100 percent," said Wahyu. Efforts to reduce emissions was also conducted by PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel) in operational Base Transceiver Station (BTS). You do this by using alternative fuels in the form of solar energy (solar cell).
In addition to developing alternative energy, this policy is also intended to ensure power supply for operation of the BTS. For a tropical country, Indonesia is rich in solar energy resources. Base stations using solar energy is called BTS Green. Until now Telkomsel already operates 132 units throughout Indonesia Green BTS.

GM Radio Operation Power System Telkomsel, Iwan Chairul said, as an effort to maintain the service performance and corporate performance in the future, Telkomsel continues to research and development of alternative energy sources are environmentally friendly.

Go Green For BTS 132 which has been operating. Telkomsel is not too difficult to get a solar energy source or a solar cell. "Until now, the energy supply needs to operate the BTS Go Green to stay awake," said Iwan.

Overall BTS obtain environmentally friendly energy sources in accordance with the standards of Telkomsel and commonly used mobile telecommunications industry. Which is about 0.115 Megawatt or nearly equivalent to 100 conventional generators with a capacity of 20 kVA.
In addition to using solar cell. Telkomsel also implement fuel cell technology using hydrogen fuel. This technology is applied in the region of Sumatra. Advantages include not cause noise because there are no moving parts, no pollutants (non-toxic and odorless) because waste substances generated is H2O aka water element.

It also has the efficiency of the process that much better than with conventional systems. "SingTel will continue to seek a breakthrough application of the use of environmentally friendly technologies and does not cause pollution, either in the form of chemical substances harmful pollution, noise and / or odor," said Iwan.
